About Uncle G
Gene Serina began his career in the music industry during the age of Doo Wop music as a member of the Styles vocal group recording back to back hits “School Bells to Chapel Bells” and “Sentimental Reasons” on the Roulette Records subsidiary label Josie Records. He then joined the joined the vocal group “Image”, recording again for another Roulette Records subsidiary Grande Records with “Wake Up Little Girl”. In the middle 60’s, Gene joined the Lost Souls vocal group recording northern soul hit ballads “It Won’t Work Out Baby” and “If A Change Don’t Come Soon” on the Glascoe Label.
With the Disco era exploding In the 70’s Gene took on the name “Mean Gene the dancing Machine” and began spinning at New York City clubs “The Vasmay Lounge”, “Godfather II”, “The Latin Palace” and on radio station WHBI – FM. During this time he was also busy with his bass doing studio-recording sessions.
In the early 90’s Gene formed his current company – Serina Promotions, doing record promotions for new music releases throughout the USA.
Together with Grammy Award winning producer Tony Camillo, Gene formed Venture Music Group (VMG), a record label created to become home to the extensive catalog of music properties both men owned which include such talents as, Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Freda Payne, Duke Ellington, Gloria Gaynor, Andrea True and others.
Today, Gene "Uncle G" Serina can be heard spinning HOT dance mixes every Thursday. Friday and Saturday on the Cozy Corner Club Mix located on www.cozycornerradio.com - The Cozy Corner Club Mix with Uncle G can also be heard every Thursday night from 8 to 9 pm on I Dance radio located at www.idanceradio.fm and now Uncle G will be spinning his smooth New York City style mixes every week right here on Real Dance Radio www.realdanceradio.net .
